Have you ever wondered why your blog posts or articles don’t get the level of interest they once did, or that you’d hope they would?
Are you as annoyed as I am when you find an article only to read something virtually unrelated to the headline that interested you in the first place?
Yeah, me too. Welcome to clickbait headlines. More often than not they are to amp up interest to get the clicks and ad revenue. Worse is when they completely misrepresent the content and provide a one-sided unbalanced view of the topic you hoped would be of value and interesting.
In the first 1/2 hour of reading articles and blog posts this morning I identified 5 clickbait headlines I almost clicked, and at least 5 I did.
It’s my fault. I should have known better.
I will not, however, stoop as low as this on my blog or in my writing. I want viewers and readership based on the content and what I write, not by trying to fake the content just for clicks and stats. That’s my promise to myself and you.
